WiFi Issues

iPads connect automatically to LBUSD-Mobile.

  • LBUSD is only for district laptops, Chromebooks, and Surface tablets.
  • LBUSD-Web is only for guests or personal (non-LBUSD) devices. If an iPad is trying to connect to LBUSD-Web, you need to forget LBUSD-Web:
  1. Tap Preferences.
  2. Tap WiFi.
  3. In the list of networks, find LBUSD-Web, then tap the Info button to its right.
  4. Tap Forget This Network.
  5. In the confirmation box, tap Forget.

When you have an iPad forget a WiFi network, the iPad will no longer attempt to join that network automatically. The network still will show up in your list, but the iPad should always automatically connect to LBUSD-Mobile.

Frozen iPad

Try this if your iPad is frozen and won't respond to your finger:
  1. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake (a.k.a. "power" button) and the Home button (round, @ bottom, center) simultaneously for 10-15 seconds.
  2. For a frozen iPad, the red slider should appear. Keep the buttons pressed. The Apple logo will appear.
  3. Release the buttons and the iPad will hard reset by shutting down and then restarting.
If this does not fix the issue, a teacher should make an eHelpDesk ticket.

Dead iPad

Try this if your iPad will not power on, even if it is plugged in: 

  1. Plug the iPad in to a power adapter (not necessary if frozen).
  2. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake (a.k.a. "power" button) and the Home button (round, @ bottom, center) simultaneously for 10-15 seconds.
  3. You will see a battery with a red bar and you can release the buttons.
  4. Let it charge.
If this does not fix the issue, a teacher should make an eHelpDesk ticket.

Frequently Asked Student Questions

Q: Can I use change the lock screen or background image?

A: No

Q: Can I take pictures?

A: Yes, but only if required to to so for an assignment.

Q: Can I look at Facebook or other social media sites on my iPad?

A: No.

Play the MMM on a Teacher iPad:

  1. Open the Chrome App
  2. Go to your Google Drive (not the Drive app)
  3. Click "Shared with me"
  4. Click on the video and it will play.

  • Teacher or Student iPad Needs iOS update - Please update it yourself. If prompted on a student iPad for the Apple ID password - Contact Kim for password.
  1. Teacher iPads Only - Make sure you have a recent iCloud backup.
  2. Tap Software Update, then General, then Settings
  3. Tap Download and Install, then Agree, then Agree.

Apple ID - Teachers Only

Students MAY NOT put and Apple ID on their iPad. The student iPads are already set up with a Franklin Apple ID.
Teachers only, if you don't already have an Apple ID (iTunes account), click here to set up an Apple ID account.

If you already have an Apple ID, you may choose to also create a Franklin-specific Apple ID if you choose to keep your work and home accounts separate.

Online Attendance

Use an iPad or iPhone for online attendance:

  1. Go to the App Store and download TeacherVUE.
  2. Set up TeacherVUE with the URL:
  3. Log in with your Novell username and password.
