Before you use the laptops...

Review all procedures posted on this webpage and review the Student Laptops presentation with your students.

MacBook Cart

MacBooks

​​​25-30 student MacBook computers (depending on current issues)

  • All computers are capable of being used for:
    • Word Processing (Microsoft Office)
    • Internet (Firefox)
    • JiJi (ST Math)
  • Individual laptops are not to be checked out by teachers or students.
  • The laptops must remain in the cart, unless they are in room 414 with Mrs. Anderson for troubleshooting or servicing.

Proper Use and Care

  • The power cord MUST be plugged in to a power source.
  • Students should inspect their laptops at the beginning of use and immediately report any issues.
  • Please report damage issues to the HelpDesk.
  • NO Food and drinks anywhere in the classroom when laptops are in use.
  • Laptops should NOT be used by a substitute in your absence (unless the sub has been pre-approved and has experience with JiJi laptops).

End of Use

Please follow these procedures when you are finished with the laptops:

  • Make sure the laptops are completely off before students close them.
  • Be sure to allow students sufficient time to put the laptops away prior to leaving class. Students should not be dismissed until all laptops are accounted for and the cart has been inspected by you.
  • Students and/or teachers must return laptops to the corresponding numbered shelf in the cart.
  • Laptops should be plugged in using the power adapters attached to the cart’s shelves.
  • Laptop numbers should be facing forward.

PLUG IN the power cord to charge the laptops.

Technical Issues

If you have technical issues, DO NOT leave the problem for the next teacher to deal with. Please send to Kim or make an eHelpDesk ticket.

Computer Numbers

  • The laptops are labeled with numbers.
  • Teacher-assigned student computer numbers are REQUIRED and will help hold students accountable for proper use and care of the laptops.
  • Please use the Computer Roll Sheet to keep a current roster of your students’ computer numbers.

Troubleshooting

Is the Wireless Access Disabled?

  • Click on the Apple login to see if it has an IP address.
    • If you don't see an IP address, a student has switched off the wireless while logged on to the laptop.
    • Use an Ethernet cable to connect the MacBook to the data port on the wall.
    • Log in to the laptop. Then, click the wireless icon in the upper, right corner to turn the wireless back on. Restart the computer.

Security

  • Keep the carts locked when not in use.
  • Do NOT share the padlock password with students.
  • Scramble and lock the padlock to the cart.
  • Do NOT share your username/password with students.
  • Do NOT allow students to share ID and password information with other students.
