Hello eighth grade families,

 

Our first Summit for current eighth grade students and High School Choice is this Saturday. Please see the flyer below and click on the link to access the reservation system for classroom presentations.

 

Tickets and registration for Summit #2 will become available after the first Summit concludes.

 

All tickets are free but need to be reserved to ensure a seat in the classroom. Some of the sessions are already full, reserve yours soon!

Beginning at 5:00pm on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, current eighth grade families can visit the High School Choice website and reserve space for both shadow opportunities and information sessions for the first High School Summit. Shadow and Summit reservations can not be made using ParentVue, and are first come, first served. Franklin is hosting an e-waste drive on Saturday, October 14th in the 7th street parking lot from 10:00-2:00. Money raised will benefit Franklin's Eco Club.

The Long Beach Press-Telegram is again launching its popular Scary Stories contest for Long Beach area youth. Winning entries – both stories and artwork – will be published in the Press-Telegram on Halloween, Oct. 31. The rules are the same as last year, with three age categories for stories and drawings:

  • Elementary grades (K-5)
  • Middle grades (6-8)
  • High school grades (9-12)

Here are the rules:

  • The deadline is Monday, Oct. 23.
  • All entries must be emailed, with the entrant’s name and grade, and the subject line “Scary Stories,” to: ptnews@presstelegram.com. Stories can be submitted in the body of the email, or as a Word attachment.  Drawings should be submitted in JPEG format, no larger than 5MG in size.
  • Stories must be no longer than 650 words.
  • Artwork must be original (no tracings).
  • Entries will be judged based on imagination, creativity and theme.
  • The winning entries will be published in the Press-Telegram on Oct. 31, and posted online at www.presstelegram.com/.

We have a monthly, friendly competition with two local schools. 

 

The school with the best attendance gets the attendance trophy and a school-wide free dress day!
